Tiger Lily Ranch is a family operated alpaca farm owned by Carol and Treverr Poole of Edam, Saskatchewan.
Our life with alpacas began in 1996 with the purchase of two females and one male. Later, in 1998, We purchased Jolimont Peruvian Bwana who is one of our marquis herdsires. Bwana has done some great things for our herd producing offspring that have ten lb. shear weights as well as correct confirmation.
In 2001 we acquired another stud in the form of 4Peruvain Ares. Six years old at the time of purchase, 4Peruvian Ares had an incredible fine fleece of 22 microns. Now ten years old Ares has maintained that fineness and still has a 22-micron count. His progeny have all come out with that same high quality fleece.
The whole family spends a great deal of time with the animals enjoying every aspect of raising them. Tayla, 7, is a huge help with the animals. She attends to much of the halter training as well as doing chores with her mom just about everyday. Because of the influence of the alpacas Tayla wants to be a vet. Trayton, 4, loves playing in the roll bowls with his graders and dozers leading us to believe he will grow up to be like his Dad! Carol has served on numerous boards to get a feel for the alpaca industry: The Canadian Alpaca Breeder Association and the Saskatchewan Alpaca Breeders Network. She is currently one of the organizers in the Lloydminster Alpaca Showcase held in conjunction with the Canadian Natural Fiber Fair. The Lloydminster Alpaca Showcase is an alpaca halter show held in mid-October. Carol and Treverr both lend a hand at the Canadian National Alpaca Sale and Futurity.
Our long-term goal here at Tiger Lily Ranch is to produce alpacas with fine fleece and a heavy shear weight. We have a great core of white and colored females and when matching those girls with Jolimont Peruvian Bwana and 4Peruvian Ares the results have been fantastic and we continue to meet our breeding goals.
